Overview

The Mercedes-Maybach sub-brand offers the ultimate luxury sedan. The large, luxurious sedan is offered in two versions: the 2017 Mercedes-Maybach S 550 4MATIC® and the Mercedes-Maybach S 600. While the Mercedes-Maybach may borrow some of its parts from the S-Class sedan, the Maybach-badged models have a wheelbase that has been stretched by 8 inches for more interior room and upgrades that make it the ultimate first-class cruiser.

The Mercedes-Maybach’s interior features advanced technology and the ultimate features to make it the most comfortable ride ever. Features like active multicontour front seats with a massaging function, heated and ventilated seats, four-zone climate control and even a refrigerator will make you never want to get out of the Mercedes-Maybach.

The Perfect Ride for…

Discerning car buyers that want to stay in the Mercedes-Benz brand, but want something a bit more exclusive than the S-Class. With a longer wheelbase and luxury features that you’d only expect on a first-class airliner, the Mercedes-Maybach is your personal limo. Inside, Nappa leather covers everything from the seats to the ceiling and dashboard, while the ionized cabin air can be infused with aromatherapy. Rear-seat passengers will also enjoy their first-class accommodations thanks to seats that offer a “hot stone” massage, while they drink chilled champagne from a pair of bespoke silver flutes.

Drive & Handling

The 2017 Mercedes-Maybach is available in two versions: the S 550 4MATIC® and the S 600. The S 550 4MATIC® is powered by a 4.7-L biturbo V8 with 449 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, while the S 600 gets its motivation from a 6.0-L biturbo V12 with 523 horsepower and 612 lb-ft of torque. The S 550 sends its power to the ground via a new nine-speed transmission, while the V12 in the S 600 is mated to a seven-speed. If you want the added capability and confidence of all-wheel drive, the S 550 4MATIC® features standard all-wheel drive.

Even though the S 600 has more power the S 550 4MATIC®, both models have the exact same 0-60 mph time of 5.0 seconds. It’s doubtful that fuel economy will be an important consideration in this segment, but the S 550 4MATIC® is rated at 16 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway while the S 600 is rated at 13 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway.*

Key Features

COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS

There are times when we may get distracted on the road or not brake soon enough to prevent hitting a stopped vehicle. The Mercedes-Maybach comes standard with COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS, which uses radar technology to alert the driver if a collision with a vehicle or stationary object is likely. The system can provide autonomous braking and even if the driver does apply the brakes, BRAKE ASSIST (BAS®) will automatically provide the ideal level of braking to prevent a collision or reduce its severity.

Mercedes-Benz mbrace® Connect Package

The Mercedes-Maybach comes standard with the five years of mbrace® Connect to give you remote access to your car from your phone or computer. mbrace® Connect gives you the ability to remotely lock or unlock your car, send destinations to the navigation system, and even connect with Mercedes-Benz roadside assistance.

DISTRONIC PLUS® with Steering Assist

On the road, the Mercedes-Maybach’s DISTRONIC PLUS® system’s adaptive cruise control will automatically maintain a safe driving distance from vehicles in front of you and the Steering Assist feature will even help you stay in your lane, since it has the ability to read lane markings.

Alternative Options

The Mercedes-Maybach is based on the S-Class, which means that if the Maybach-badged model is out of your price range or a bit too big, you can easily step down to the S-Class without giving up too much. The S-Class even offers the same powertrains.

If you want the style and comfort of the Mercedes-Maybach, but with more performance, the AMG® S 63 sedan is an option with its 577-horsepower 5.5-L V8 that gives the sedan a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds. At the other end of the spectrum there’s the AMG® S 65 sedan with its 6.0-L V12 that generates a whopping 621 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque.
